Sant Sebastià Festivals 2025: Tradition and Music Take Over Palma de Mallorca

Every January, Palma de Mallorca fills with life, tradition, and culture to honor its patron saint, Sant Sebastià. In 2025, from January 13th to 28th, the city is preparing to offer a festive program full of events that combine the best of music, gastronomy, and Mallorcan customs. The streets of the historic center transform into a unique stage where locals and visitors enjoy days of celebration that highlight the essence of this vibrant city.

The Revetlla de Sant Sebastià: The Most Magical Night

The most awaited event of the festivals is, without a doubt, the revetlla de Sant Sebastià, which takes place on the night of January 19th. On this night, Palma becomes a festival of fire and music. The main squares of the city are filled with foguerons (bonfires) around which families and friends gather to torrar (grill) traditional Mallorcan sausages, such as sobrasada and butifarrons

By the warmth of the bonfires, the atmosphere fills with music thanks to the numerous concerts held at various stages spread across the city. Bands and artists from different genres turn the streets into a real party, perfect for those looking to enjoy a unique experience under the stars.

Tradition and Fun for All Ages

The Sant Sebastià festivals are not just for adults; they also have a space reserved for the youngest ones. Sant Sebastià Petit, held on January 14th, offers a day full of activities specially designed for children. Workshops, magic shows, circus performances, and music turn the Sa Riera park into a magical place for families.

The Origin of the Festival: History and Devotion

The Sant Sebastià celebration has a deeply rooted origin in the history of Palma. He was proclaimed patron saint of the city after the miraculous end of the plague in 1523 and 1524, attributed to the arrival of a relic of the saint from Rodas. Since then, the city honors his memory with these celebrations full of symbolism and tradition.

Additionally, fire, the central element of the festival, is linked to the ancient Mallorcan tradition of pig slaughter in winter, a practice that led to the preparation of the island’s famous sausages, the undisputed protagonists of the torrades during the festivities.

The New Feature of 2025: Music and Afternoon Fun at Plaza de Cort

This year, the festival introduces a very special novelty: an afternoon of live music on January 20th at the iconic Plaza de Cort. Starting at 18:00, a DJ and a live concert will liven up the afternoon, offering a different experience for those looking to celebrate in a more relaxed way. Additionally, Plaza Major will be another central point with musical performances that will attract hundreds of visitors.

The Spectacular Correfoc and the Drac de na Coca

The Correfoc, one of the most anticipated events, brings the festival to a thrilling close. This parade of Dimonis (demons) and fireworks fills the streets of Palma with unparalleled energy. Attendees participate by dancing alongside the Dimonis and enjoying a visual spectacle that combines fire, sparks, and the presence of the legendary Drac de na Coca, an iconic figure of Mallorcan culture.
